money gram mystery shoppping

Anonymous said...
I had been out of work for almost 1 yr, got a check in the mail, for $2220. with a job offer for mistery shopping, went ahead cashed the check, last friday, and did first assinment to send money on money gram...4 days later I am overdrawn this amount on my account, with no money to pay this transaction, and no job. I called the police, and they said there is nothing to do that I am responsible for paying the amount, contacted money gram and of course money has alredy been picked up.
I understand that I shoulded know better, it was too good to be true, but I thought if the bank cashes the check it has to be true, maybe the banks need to put checks on hold before they can cash them or check funds before cashing them, I have all the info from the other party including phone # that its still active. this letter came from Minnesota, and I live in California, if there's anything anyone will suggest please let me know...
