Hooking up your HDTV to your Computer

Anonymous said...
Hooking your desktop to you HDTV

This is absolutely NOT a complicated thing to do...
I'll put it in plain English...

To get the Cable or Satelite Signal on your desktop:
If you have Cable or Satelite, you simply need to get a TV Tuner that works with you Signal. There should be a "cable in" on the tv tuner. Plug the signal from your Cable Bos or Satelite Box into your computer. In order to change channels on your digital cable box, you'll need to run an Infared cable from your computer to a spot infront of your digital cable box. (This sounds more complicated than it is. All you're doing is allowing the computer to change the channel on your digital cable box)

To get the Video:
On the back of your desktop, you have a place to plug the monitor cable in. (HD-15 is the type of cable you need.) You most likely have a spot on your HDTV called wither HD-15 or RBG. Put the other end of this cable in here.

To get the Audio:
Your computer likely has an audio output or even a headphone output... Ideally use the audio output... Plug into that a 3.5mm audio wire.. (It's the same size pin that goes into your laptop.)

You're all set...
Let me know if you have any specific questions.
I'll answer any question... the only dumb question is the one that's not asked.
